Easy Pepperoni Rolls are fluffy, buttery pizza style rolls that are filling, delicious, and perfect for your picky eaters who love pizza! They’re so quick you can have them on the table in under 30 minutes.
Crescent roll dough is rolled up with pepperoni and cheese. I brushed the tops with an little egg wash and seasoned with dried herbs.

Easy Pepperoni Rolls
You may have had bagel bites, but have you had pepperoni rolls? We love them. We originally had them from a restaurant in town that’s no longer in business.
I missed them, but once I figured out how to make them on my own I actually prefer these. They take only a couple of ingredients and less than 20 minutes. It’s a quick and easy meal.
You could even make them as an appetizer. This is a great recipe to make with kids. There is no cutting and they will have fun rolling them up and sprinkling the seasoning.
Pepperoni Crescent Rolls Ingredients
- reduced-fat crescent roll dough – I like using reduced fat, but you can use regular or Grand’s style.
- turkey pepperoni – I prefer turkey pepperoni because it’s not as greasy. Regular pepperoni works great too, it may just be a little more greasy.
- reduced-fat shredded mozzarella – I use reduced-fat shredded mozzarella to have fewer calories and less grease inside the rolls.
- Italian seasoning
Other filling/topping ideas
You can fill crescent rolls with any of your favorite pizza toppings. Some great alternatives are:
- Italian sausage
- Candian bacon or ham
- chicken
- black olives
- mushrooms
- bell peppers
- onions
- bacon
- spinach & artichokes
- pesto

Can this recipe for Pepperoni Rolls be made ahead of time?
Yes, but you’ll want to make them to completion and then freeze them. I would not suggest putting them in the refrigerator. If you bake them to completion, allow them to cool completely, and then place them inside a freezer-safe Ziploc bag. When you’re ready to serve, you can heat them in the toaster oven or microwave.
Do pepperoni rolls need to be refrigerated?
Any leftover pepperoni rolls should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Alterations for Picky Eaters
If your picky eaters love bagel bites, pizza, or anything similar, they’ll probably like these. There are a few changes you can make, but for the most part, it’s picky eater friendly.
- If they don’t like seeing the seasoning on top, you can add it to the inside or leave it out entirely.
- You can swap the pepperoni for whatever pizza toppings are their favorites.
- You can swap the mozzarella cheese for their favorite cheese, or even leave it out.
- Dip them in their favorite sauce. If they like dipping their pizza in ranch, let them dip the Pepperoni Rolls in marinara or ranch.
Tips, Tricks, and Troubleshooting for Pepperoni Crescent Rolls
- If you want extra fluffy rolls, you can buy the “Grands” style crescent roll dough.
- If you’d like your rolls browned further on top, use the broiler. Turn the broiler on for just a minute. Be careful not to burn!
- Be sure to incorporate the pepperoni throughout as you roll them up. if you skip this step, you’ll only have pepperoni in the very center.
- Use a silicone baking mat if you have them. It can really help them not stick to the baking sheet and brown a little more evenly.
Dip the tips of your fingers in warm water and rub right at the seam. Place it together and the water will help it stick.
Substitutions for making Pepperoni Rolls with Crescent Rolls
egg wash – You can swap the egg wash with olive oil. It’ll add a little more flavor and help them brown.
pepperoni slices – You can use a pepperoni stick instead of pepperoni slices. Just roll it up in the middle with cheese.
crescent rolls – You can swap the crescent roll dough with pizza dough if you prefer.
mozzarella cheese – To add a little spice, you can replace the mozzarella cheese with pepper jack cheese.
How to reheat Crescent Pepperoni Rolls
You can reheat pepperoni rolls in either the microwave or toaster oven. Start with only 1 minute and then go in increments of 30 seconds until it reaches your desired temperature.
Just remember to remove any plastic wrap if you used it to store it. I don’t recommend the air fryer because they seem to burn before fully heating through.
