What is the secret to making tender pork chops?

The secret to making tender pork chops is to avoid overcooking them. By cooking them to the correct temperature, they'll be perfectly tender.

It's best to use a digital meat thermometer and remove them immediately when they hit 145ºF.

how to store baked pork chops in the refrigerator

These can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Be sure to store them in an airtight container.

How to Store Ranch Pork Chops in the Freezer

You can store these in the freezer one of two ways.

    Uncooked
Add the seasonings to your pork chops and then lay them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place them in the freezer. Once frozen, place them in a freezer-safe zip-top bag.

    Cooked
Cook the pork chops completely. Once cooked, place them in the freezer on a baking sheet in a single layer. Once frozen, put them in a freezer-safe zip-top bag.

how to reheat baked pork chops

I don't recommend using the microwave to reheat them. It will cause them to overcook.

If you froze your pork chops uncooked, allow them to thaw in the refrigerator over night and then bake as normal.

If your pork chops are cooked and frozen, let them thaw first.

If you are reheating thawed, cooked pork chops, I recommend putting them on a sheet pan in the oven at 300°F until heated throw. You want them to slowly reheat without overcooking them.

Tips and Tricks for Ranch Pork Chops in Oven

    • Be sure not to overcook them. The key to a tender, juicy boneless pork chop is to not overcook them. You want to use an instant read meat thermometer and cook them only until 145°F. This is the meat thermometer I use.
    • If you'd like a more caramelized exterior, you can do a quick flash of broil at the end of your cooking time. If you do this, be careful not to overcook them.
    • If you'd like to brown and carmelize the outside, you can brush them lightly with olive oil and pop them under the broiler for 1 minute.
    • These are really great with a squeeze of lemon on top. It adds a bright, fresh flavor.
    • Be sure that your pork chops rest a few minutes before you cut them. Letting them rest will keep them tender and juicy.
    • You can bake these on a baking sheet or any sort of casserole dish you already have on hand. Use what is easiest for you.

FAQs for Baked Boneless Pork Chops

Why are my baked pork chops always tough?

You overcooked them. Foodsafety.gov says that fresh pork should reach an internal temperature of 145°F. Overcooking it will give you a tough pork chop.

Do I need to use a specific brand of ranch dressing mix?

No. You can use whatever brand you prefer for your seasoning mixture. I partial to Hidden Valley, because it's my favorite ranch flavor, but use whatever kind you like.

Can I use thinner or thicker pork chops?

You can, but be careful on cooking time. I recommend staying with 1- 1 ½ inches. You'll need to adjust your cooking time to account for differing size.

How long to bake boneless pork chops?

For pork chops that are 1 to 1 ½ inches thick, bake them at 400°F for 15-18 minutes (until the internal temperature reaches 145°F).

How to tell when baked pork chops are done?

To tell if your baked pork chops are done, insert an instant read meat thermometer at the thickest part. When it reads 145°F, the pork chops are done.

Why are my pork chops dry?

This is due to overcooking. Foodsafety.gov says that fresh pork should reach an internal temperature of 145°F. Overcooking it will give you a tough pork chop.

Should I cover the pork chops with aluminum foil while in the oven?

No, this step is not necessary.

Should you flip pork chops in the oven?

You will want to flip these pork chops once during the cooking process.

How do you keep boneless pork chops from drying out?

To prevent boneless pork chops from drying out, be sure to remove them immediately when the internal temperature reaches 145ºF and do not cook them any longer.

    alterations for picky eaters

    • Serve with ranch or ketchup for dipping. If cooked properly, your pork chop should rival that of any other tender, juicy meat, similar to chicken. Picky eaters will love it if cooked properly and given with their favorite dipping sauce.

Substitutions for this Oven Boneless Pork Chop Recipe

    • You can use bone-in pork chops instead of boneless. Just be sure to account for the change in cooking time.
    • If you can't find the ranch seasoning mix, you can use bottled ranch salad dressing. Let them marinate in the dressing for a few hours first and follow the recipe as normal.

        Hi Linh,
Yes, you absolutely can marinate them overnight. It would just enhance the flavor even more.

This recipe was amazing! Used exact amount of seasonings.. only thing I did different was rub them with some olive oil before seasoning and also seared them in a cast iron skillet for about 3 minutes on each side before transferring to the oven for 10 minutes. Very juicy and great taste!
